Carving classes

Disclaimer: These courses are not being run by Cornwall Woodcarvers (with the exception of the Brench club, and the workshops at Penrice from 3/11/21 and at Upcycle Kernow) and are provided purely as suggestions of unaffiliated courses which participants may be interested in attending

Ever admired a wood sculpture? We are Cornwall Woodcarvers, a Cornish community group whose aim is to promote wood carving in Cornwall. We shall be running a carving group at Penrice Academy, St Austell; Wednesday evenings between 6:30 and 8:30pm starting on Wednesday 3rd November 2021. All 16s and over are welcome; beginners and better.

The group has sufficient equipment to share, but where possible; please bring your own tools. Come along and share in the experience that is wood carving. A relaxing occupation in this world of chaos. Admission £4.50 per evening (CWC non-members) £4 members.

Fancy trying something new? Come have a go at whittling, axe carving or carving. We have everything you need to get started. Over 16s only, all abilities welcome.  The Redruth Wednesday Workshop is at Upcycle Kernow, Portreath Retail Park, New Portreath Road, Redruth, TR16 4FX.

Wednesdays 2-4pm.
Due to the huge success of the Wednesday Workshop, we are now running an additional workshop on Tuesday evenings.
Tuesdays 6.30-8.30pm. 

Club members £4.00, non members £4.50 a session.

Seaton Building
Mondays 6.00 to 8.00 pm during term time.

The class is in two groups - people who are new to woodcarving who will learn all the basics and create their first piece, and more experienced carvers who come to be part of a social group and use the equipment, with John on hand to advise. Some of our group have been coming for over 8 years.

This self-help club has been set up by Cornwall Woodcarvers members and is named after the late Danny Brench, a valued member who ran the carving course in St Austell.  The club did meet at Penrice School. Post-COVID they have relocated to St Keyne. Further information from Allison Houghton -
