Dear members,
At long last the parish halls are open again. We have been able to book Lanhydrock Memorial Hall for Saturday 11th September between 11 am and 3 pm for our summer picnic/activity session.
This year it is too soon to run the event as before, therefore:
Please bring picnic to feed your self,
Any drink you may require,
Carving/whittling/hobby craft activity for the day.
Hopefully the weather will be good and we can hold the event outside, around the back. I shall bring a gazebo; if any other could bring a gazebo along too, that would be much appreciated.
Teas and coffee will be available for a notional donation as usual.
Toilet facilities will be available as normal.
Hope to see as many members there as can make it. Hand sanitiser will be available, please bring your own face covering for in-side use.
Due to the cross section of membership of CWC we consider it necessary to require the use of face covering inside the memorial hall.
Looking forward the meeting again
All the best

John Samworth and Roger Gluyas attended Food Jam 2021 this weekend at Enys Gardens to do demonstrations. Visitors to the event were able to sample street food from around the world as well as local ales. Various demonstrations, workshops, and activiies also were taking place and a great day was had by all!
URGENT UPDATE 4/1/21
THE COLLEGE HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT PART TIME COURSES WILL NOT NOW START UNTIL 25/1/21. YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO SIGN UP 🙂
FURTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS MAY BE MADE BY THE COLLEGE ON THEIR WEBSITE UNDER THE NEWS SECTION.
As far as we know, the popular woodcarving evening class at Truro College starts Monday 4th January 2021 - enrol by searching Truro College adult part time courses for ’woodcarving’ - all are welcome!
Several members from the group did very well in the woodcarving section of the show today. Congratulations to David James, John Samworth, Pete Clark and Louise Coombes!
Today some members of Cornwall Woodcarvers planted a tree in appreciation of the work that David James has done in promoting whittling and woodcarving in the county.
David introduced me to woodcarving about eight years ago so it was a privilege for me to help him plant the lime tree. The tree will eventually be coppiced for whittling and carving. It has been planted in a field in Camborne which is owned by John Samworth (Chair of Cornwall Woodcarvers).
A plaque for the event was made and carved by Roger Gluyas. The ceremony was attendedby some of Dave's family, representatives from Truro College and members of Cornwall Woodcarvers.
