About me

Roger Gluyas

Roger, a proud Cornishman, was born in Redruth in 1946. A retired electrical engineer, he worked for ECC and Imery's Pigments & Additives for 38 years, followed by two and a half years for Anstee & Ware of Avonmouth Bristol. Married to Pat with one son.

Roger played the tenor horn and french horn for 32 years before starting woodcarving in 1999. He likes to think he inherited his ability to carve from his father, Raymond, who was a talented stonemason.

An example of Roger's work can be seen in the form of a crucifix carved in elm, on the Altar in the Lady Chapel in Probus Church.

Roger organises the Cornwall Woodcarvers stand at the Royal Cornwall Show and won the "Best Stand" award in the Forestry Section in 2009. A Royal Visit by Prince Charles was the highlight of 2010.
